Great BrahminsSince ancient times, Brahmins as Doctors, Scientists, Kings Minister & as Temple Priests have uplifted not only Indian Society but World. Brahmins have been in the mathematical, scientific and technological forefront in India. Brahmins have been advisers to Maharajas, Mughals and military rulers. Current Status
Brahmin'sAccording to 2007 reports, Brahmins in India are about five percent of its total population. The Himalayan states of Uttarakhand (20%), Himachal Pradesh (14%) and Uttar Pradesh (13%) have the highest percentage of Brahmin population relative to respective state's total Hindus. According to the Center for the Study of Developing Societies, in 2004 about 65%of Brahmin households in India earned less than $100 a month compared to 89%of Scheduled Tribes, 91%of Scheduled Castes and 86%of Muslims.“Can you imagine Brahmins working as cleaners in shauchalayas (public toilets) in Delhi and other places; as porters, bearers, waiters, rickshaw pullers and in several other jobs to earn some money for survival? Economically most of them are hard hit and their situation has deteriorated over the years.”
